Springburn Harriers Junior Jack Races: Saturday 11th March 2017

Race Venue:
Forth and Clyde Canal Towpath
Bishopbriggs Leisuredrome
Balmuildy Road
G64

First races at 10am – (P5 and P7). Please note some races may be combined, depending on number of entries. The P5 and P6 races are on the towpath heading towards Cadder Bridge and the P7 and S1-S6 races are on the towpath heading towards Maryhill. The following are approximate timings.

Primary 5 Boys and Girls – 1.5K – 10.00am
Primary 6 Boys and Girls – 1.5K – 10.10am
Primary 7 Boys and Girls – 1.5K – 10.00am
S1 – S6 Boys and Girls – 3K – 10.10am

Entry Fee: £2 per athlete per race
School entries should be emailed to Barbara Knox by Friday 3rd March 2017 at springburnjuniorsbarbaraknox@gmail.com Please bring cheque or cash on the day.

Venue Facilities:
Showers and changing facilities will be available at this venue. The Café will be open from 9am serving hot drinks and food.

Toilets are located inside Leisuredrome Sports Centre. Competitors must remove muddy footwear prior to entering the Sports Centre.

Race Numbers:
Declarations will open at 9.00am. Race numbers will be issued on the day of the race and should be collected from the Sports Centre by 9.45am. One race number will be issued to each competitor and this should be worn on the front of the vest. The number should be attached to the vest with four pins (one to be attached to each corner of the number) to prevent the number becoming obscured or detached from the vest.

Awards:
Individual Awards:
Medals will be awarded to all finishers as well as 1st, 2nd and 3rd male and female in each race. S1-S3 and S4-S6 will race together but there will be individual medals for 1st,2nd,3rd male and female in these two age categories. Medals will be awarded immediately following the race finish.

Team Awards:
These will be for primary and secondary schools and medals will be awarded to the first, second and third teams, male and female in the P5, P6, P7 and S1-S3 races. Teams will consist of three runners and the team score will be determined by adding the finishing places for the first three runners of each school. The team scoring the fewest points will be the winner and in the event of a tie on points the team whose last scoring member finishes nearest first place shall determine the result.

Team awards will be sent to the schools after the results have been verified.

Parking:
There is parking at the Sports Centre and in the streets immediately surrounding.

Photos:
Photos will be taken on the day, so if any child has not been given photo consent by the parents this should be highlighted to the organisers on the day.

Health and Safety:
Please be aware that we do not have exclusive use of the sports centre or the park so a parent/responsible adult needs to be there to directly supervise their children when they are not actually taking part in the race.
